Hays-Lodgepole School held its 2nd Quarter Awards Assembly to celebrate student achievements and provide updates for the school community. The event began with important monthly updates, emphasizing the significance of attendance, fulfilling detention requirements, and upcoming emergency drills.
The highlight of the assembly was the recognition of honor roll students. From junior high, 18 students—an impressive 67%—earned a spot on the honor roll. At the high school level, 30 students, or 37%, achieved the same distinction.
Next, attention turned to excellent attendance awards, celebrating students who had two or fewer absences during the quarter. In the high school, 10 students received this special recognition, with one student, Kelcie Mount (11th Grade), achieving perfect attendance. She received a gift bag of goodies in appreciation of her dedication. 11 of the junior high students also had excellent attendance.
The assembly also honored Mr. Shawn Moorman as the Staff of the Month. Mr. Moorman, who has a background in biology, teaches four science subjects and consistently gives teaching his all. Mr. Moorman works tirelessly to make science engaging, fun, and interesting for his students. His dedication and creativity were celebrated with enthusiastic applause.
Teachers were then invited to present special awards to students. Recognitions included highest grades in specific subjects, best reader, outstanding effort on the court, and other achievements, highlighting the diverse talents of Hays-Lodgepole students.
To conclude the celebration, the Fort Belknap Partnership for Success Program hosted a school-wide round dance and a fun-filled potato dance in honor of the students. Winners of the potato dance were rewarded with $25 gift certificates to Martin's Grocery, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.
